ABSTRACT

The Blood Bank mobile application is an effort of easing the process of receiving and donating blood. This application helps the users to seamlessly donate and receive the required blood and also gives the availability of oxygen and ambulance in nearby hospitals. It gives the user information related to the availability of blood types in different hospitals and blood banks. Taking in mind the COVID-19 pandemic situation, in which the requirement for blood and oxygens were reached an unmanageable level. Blood and Oxygen is an essential part of the healthcare system. Day by day, the requirement for blood and oxygen is increasing, but still, there is unavailability and shortage. ABSTRACT

SARS-Cov-2 is the novel coronavirus with predominantly inflammatory pathogenesis. The inflammation can be initiated and finally aggravated through a number of interconnected inflammatory pathways such as NF-κB, JAK-STAT, MAPK TLRs, iNOS, COX, etc. In the current chapter, these signaling pathways which instigate inflammation in SARS-Cov-2 are discussed. Moreover, drugs inhibiting these pathways in other inflammatory conditions or diseases are either in clinical use as COVID-19 therapy, or have been proposed as potential future therapeutic interventions in this chapter. These repurposing strategies can halt the COVID-19 symptoms as well as disease progression. This was demonstrated by establishing a link between the regulatory actions of these molecules or drugs in the inflammatory pathway like cytokine release against the COVID-19-related inflammatory havoc. ABSTRACT

Data visualization is a very important step in data analysis as it provides insight into the data in a more effective manner that is interesting, simple, and understandable to every-one without any language barrier. It can also represent a huge amount of data in a small space very easily. In the previous two years, the whole world has suffered from a very terrifying nightmare known as COVID-19. Known to be starting from the country of China, the pandemic affected not only the health and well-being of mankind, but also had serious impacts on the economies of various countries. Hence, a visualization of the data set of the pandemic might provide beneficial insights for finding a possible solution and can help in overcoming the impacts of the pandemic. Microsoft Power BI is a very famous tool for analyzing data. Power BI provides a different way to visualize the data. This paper has been analyzed the covid-19 data by using Power BI to understand the trends and patterns of the Pandemic. With the help of visualizing the data, it can be represented in stacked column charts, tables, and maps. These three ways are easy and simple to understand the patterns of the pandemic. It also helps to understand how covid impact the world. This research with power BI dashboard by using a dashboard feature that connects different pieces of visual graphs. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

This empirical study aims to study the seismic shift in the post-COVID travel behaviour of Indian tourists due to demographic variables. Secondly, it analyzes the effects of travel restrictions on tourists' travel plans. This study is based on primary data, a systematic literature review, and experts' opinions on the tourism area. A web-based and offline survey was done using the purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis, an independent t-test, and the analysis of variance technique. The data analysis revealed stunning results, where no significant difference was found in the travellers' behaviours according to their gender and marital status. However, the travellers' age, education, occupation, annual family income, and purpose of travel greatly influence their travel behaviour. It was found that travel restrictions significantly impacted the travel plans of the travellers, and travellers did not want to resume travelling for at least six months. Travellers postponed and sometimes cancelled their travel plans till they could find some safe options for travel. To overcome this situation, travel suppliers can customize their products to tourists' "new " behaviour, focusing on respective demographic variables and the effects of travel restrictions on their travel plans following the age of acceleration. Yet, the small sample size of the study would limit the generalization of this research. Further, this study may be conducted in other industries, such as retail, to identify consumer post-COVID purchasing behaviour changes.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 has surfaced as a global disaster eliciting severe respiratory illness, imputable to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Since its inception, scientists and researchers have urgently aligned their research for the identification of potential biomarkers for early detection and to develop novel therapeutics for the treatment of COVID-19 infection. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to regulate critical cellular pathways in several human pathologies including viral infections and have surfaced as key modulators in mediating the SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis as well. The virus-host interactions mediated through miRNAs have been of keen interest to researchers these days. Significant miRNAs have been reported, which might act as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets. The differential expression of miRNAs in mild and severely affected patients has paved the way for drug development and therapies. The mechanism and understanding the emerging role of miRNA for the virus and infected host cell interplay will contribute to therapeutic prospects and mitigate the burden of such similar viral infections. © 2023 Elsevier Inc. ABSTRACT

Purpose: This study examines intrinsic motivations and antecedents that affect millennial mobile impulsive shopping in markets with the technology acceptance model (TAM) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The study has been conducted by collecting data from 367 regular mobile shopping millennials, which was analyzed by structural equation modeling. Findings: The findings reported that the perceived ease of use correlates positively with perceived usefulness. Similarly, perceived ease of use, usefulness, perceived utilitarian value and hedonic value significantly impacts shoppers' trust and attitude toward impulsive mobile shopping. Perceived trust was found to exhibit a positive association with mobile shopping. Finally, perceived usefulness, ease of use, utilitarian value, hedonic value, trust and attitude significantly positively impacted millennials' impulsive mobile shopping. Practical implications: This study's results will help e-retailers establish novel techniques and efforts to enhance market volume and build solid connections with mobile customers by ensuring secure purchase habits. The results would also help companies develop customer satisfaction-focused business strategies. Originality/value: This study contributes to the body of literature by finding a significant impact of attitude, trust and shopping values on impulsive mobile shopping. These constructs have not been explored as factors impacting mobile impulsive shopping, especially when it comes to a pandemic. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Community acquired acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) in low income settings is different from that in the high income settings. Infections, poisoning, toxic envenomations and pregnancy related AKI are common. Kidney biopsy is seldom performed in these patients unless atypical clinical course or features are present. We have established a prospective cohort of patients with CA-AKI at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh in India. We present the spectrum of kidney biopsies in patients who underwent kidney biopsy in this cohort. Method(s): The study is a single centre, prospective, observational cohort study of patients with CA-AKI at PGIMER. Patients aged >12 years and with a diagnosis of CA-AKI are eligible for enrolment. Patients with underlying CKD, urinary tract obstruction, COVID 19, malignancy or heart failure are excluded. Clinical and laboratory data are recorded at baseline. Follow up visits are scheduled at 1 and 4 months after hospital discharge. Kidney biopsies are done only in those patients who have atypical clinical course or features (e.g. persistent kidney dysfunction despite other clinical improvement, strong clinical suspicion of dominant glomerular involvement or interstitial nephritis etc.). We present the spectrum of histopathological diagnoses that were recorded in such patients till date. Result(s): Till now, 646 patients have been included in the cohort. The leading causes of CA-AKI are sepsis (52%), obstetric complications (14%), envenomation (8%), nephrotoxic drugs (6%) and poisons (3%) (figure 1). 18.4% patients had died after CA-AKI. At >=3 months after CA-AKI, 16.3% patients had not recovered completely with persistent eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73m2. 44 patients had undergone kidney biopsy in this cohort. Incomplete recovery, and clinical or diagnostic dilemmas were indications for doing kidney biopsy. The leading clinical diagnoses in this subgroup were sepsis (23%), nephrotoxic drugs (23%), envenomation (9%), obstetric causes (6.8%) and others (25%). Acute interstitial nephritis, acute tubular necrosis and acute cortical necrosis were most common histologic diagnoses (table 1). Combinations of various histologic features were not uncommon. Pigment casts were recorded in 13 patients. 4 patients had acute cortical necrosis, 2 being after post-partum AKI and one each due to acute gastroenteritis and unknown animal bite. Glomerular involvement were recorded in 8 patients (table 1). Thrombotic microangiopathy was present in 4 patients. In this subgroup of patients who underwent kidney biopsy, 3 (7%) had died and 8 (18%) had eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73m2 at >=3 months. ABSTRACT

Covid-19 is reported to have originated in Wuhan, China in December 2019. It slowly spread through the world causing global health problems. Having a high transmission rate the infection spread across the population affecting the most vulnerable. The worst affected world is those who had high-risk factors such as age hypertension, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases and the like. Patients with end-stage renal disease were hit hard. These patients world vulnerable to covid-19 they are older and also have comorbidity. Their immune system is weak which makes them more vulnerable to infection. Moreover, patients with end-stage kidney disease need to visit the dialysis centres three times a week for around 4 h. Exposure to the dialysis centre made them more exposed to the infection. Many patients are treated simultaneously at these dialysis centres. The non-availability of an antiviral drug for covid-19 it makes more important to prevent the disease. The infection can be prevented by limiting exposure to the infected areas. Many guidelines have been issued by various bodies for the prevention and containment of the disease in these hemodialysis centres. European dialysis working group has published guidelines to prevent the spread of infection in hemodialysis centres. Despite the availability of vaccines, the immune system in the patient having end-stage kidney failure diseases responds poorly to the vaccine. Poor Immunity of dialysis Patients and the emergence of a variant of SARS-COV-19 calls for a booster dose in all the patients undergoing dialysis. Due to Covid-19 stress levels and anxiety levels among the patients increased. However, not much information is available on the mental health of the patients undergoing Haemodialysis during the Pandemic. Background: In the past two decades, the human coronavirus (HCoV) outbreaks have gripped the international communities almost six times in different forms [HCoV-OC43 (2001);HCoV-NL63 (2004);SARS-CoV (2003);HCoV HKU1 (2005);MERS-CoV (2012);SARS-CoV--2 (2019)]. These emerging pathogens have been proven very challenging from medical perspec-tives, economic conditions, and psychological impact on human society. Introduction: SARS-CoV-2, a novel coronavirus, has evidenced a historic yet troublesome pandemic across the globe. In humans, its clinical manifestations may range from asymptomatic, severe pneumonia to mortality. Bats are the natural reservoirs of a variety of viruses belonging to the family Coronaviridae. Most of the bats harboring coronaviruses mainly reside in Asian and African regions. Objective(s): The objective was to describe the various characteristic features of all coronaviruses, clinical manifestations, and complications associated with SARS-CoV-2. The major goal was to highlight the involvement of the strong immune system of bats in the cross-species transmission of coronaviruses in intermediate hosts and, finally, zoonotic transmission in humans. Methodology: A systematic literature search was conducted for high quality research and review ar-ticles. We searched the databases for articles published between the year 1972 to 2020 with search terms zoonosis, coronaviruses, zoonotic transmissions, clinical manifestations, and the immune system of bats. Conclusion(s): The domestic and non-domestic animals come in closer contact with humans. Some requisite measures should be taken to decrease the contact with livestock to prevent further threatening viral transmissions. Furthermore, the remarkable immune system of bats is required to in-quire thoroughly to develop novel therapeutics to conquer the evolving coronaviruses in the future.Copyright © 2021 Bentham Science Publishers.

ABSTRACT

As a result of global economies' protectionist policies, followed by economic nationalism and a downturn, there is a shortage of talent with the requisite skills, knowledge, and abilities to meet the contingencies amid COVID-19. The recent developments have necessitated multinational businesses to manage their talent in a new international business context. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the implications of the "New Normal” for global talent which is manifested by economic nationalism and slowdown. This study used an inductive method to qualitative research, conducted in-depth interviews with 28 top executives from multinational corporations. The implications for the global talent emerged from the current study as skill enhancement based on the emerged business model;training and development pertinent to new responsibilities and activities;adaptability to changes in the macroenvironment;emphasis on employee proactivity, experimentation, and risk-taking;emphasis on hyperspecialization to take on contract positions;global talent needs to participate in remote learning;global talent must emphasize on mental health issues;and registering in talent exchange programs to fill talent skill shortages. © 2022 Wiley Periodicals LLC.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: This exploratory study aims to explore the operational and financial constraints faced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper highlights the role of supply chain finance (SCF) in the uncertain business environment caused by the pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The study adopts an inductive approach and conducts convergent interviews with 32 SME owners and bank officials who are associated with SME-related financial transactions. The analysis of the interview data has been done through a grounded theory approach. Findings: The findings portray four key themes representing the operational and financial constraints faced by SMEs during the pandemic. Further, the study identifies four drivers of SCF adoption among SMEs, including capital constraints, high inventory turnover cycle time, high order fulfilment cycle time and long debtors' collection period. Practical implications: The study provides various insights to the managers and owners of SMEs to deal with the economic crisis and eliminate the financial pressure created by the pandemic. The study enlightens the policymakers about the struggles of the SMEs during the economic turmoil created by the pandemic and guides them to introduce the relevant policies to resolve their problems. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study to identify the factors driving the SMEs to adopt SCF due to the economic chaos created by the pandemic. Also, the study theoretically contributes to the literature by developing a theoretical framework for SCF adoption based on grounded theory. © 2022, Emerald Publishing Limited.

This research is focused upon the need of psychologists and counsellors in educational institutes after the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic lockdown. According to the United Nations, education is described as a "basic human right, a worldwide shared asset, and a major driver of progression throughout all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda as a foundation of fair, egalitarian, inclusive, and harmonious communities". The COVID-19 pandemic has been subtitled as a "black swan" event which was very unpredictable yet came with severe consequences. It has been equated to Second World War in aspects of socio-economic outcomes and has brought tremendous and serious impeding of education. It made a nearly ubiquitous influence on pupils and educators all over the globe. For more than one year, schools, colleges and universities have remained closed, which has resulted in extreme muddling of the education system. With the recommencement of academic establishments, a wave of frustration, anxiety and depression has consumed many teachers, pupils, and parents. The experience of comfort of homes and lack of socialisation has left students (especially small children) with feelings of edginess towards physically being present and studying in classrooms. Therefore, professional individuals such as psychologists who can help manage, regulate and uplift the whole education system of the present scenario, while providing solutions to the general problems such as difficulty in learning among students and mental health issues that are often ignored, are a desideratum. ABSTRACT

The field of biological sciences enumerates various important aspects of life forms, some of which remain mysterious to explain or validate. Though there has been a revolutionary advancement of tools and techniques to study different biological phenomena under laboratory conditions, there are significant limitations with implementing each concept in the laboratory. Sometimes, it is practically impossible to simulate the actual environmental conditions of living systems under in-vitro settings, or sometimes the requirements of life are discordant with various analytical techniques, or the study of complex evolutionary processes becomes technically difficult using wet-lab methods. Thus, these experimental challenges confine our boundary to explore the real world of biological systems, which may lead to the acquisition of knowledge with few lacunae. Bioinformatics as a discipline tries to fill those spaces to a major extent using in silico analysis and provides a deeper theoretical foundation and validation of existing biological principles. The importance and potential of bioinformatics have been witnessed in the pandemic times to fight against Covid-19. From developing new drugs and vaccines to crop improvement and space and environment studies, the field of bioinformatics has many prospects. ABSTRACT

Objectives: To assess the prevalence of depression, anxiety and stress (DAS) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among health care workers Methods: The present study was conducted over a period of six months (June 2020-November 2020) during which mental health status of health care workers was assessed using semi-structured self-reporting study tool which included two standardized and validated tools (DASS-21 and IES-R). Sociodemographic profile and occupational history were also recorded. Health care workers of all categories who gave a written informed consent were recruited using non probability convenience sampling technique. Minimum sample size required was this study was calculated to be 440, using 4PQ/ L2 where, power was assumed to be 80%, absolute precision of 5%, and P as 50%, after adding non-response rate of 10%. Data was compiled and analyzed using EpiInfo07 software. Result(s): Out of a total of 822 participants included in the study, 12%,13% and 16% were found to have symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress with the odds being higher in females. The prevalence of PTSD was 18%. Those with education above intermediate and directly involved in COVID 19 related work and patient care were found to be at higher risk of depression, anxiety, stress and posttraumatic stress disorder. Conclusion(s): There is a need for a psychological support system for health care workers along with appropriate administrative action to ensure shift rotation, rest and appropriate working hours. ABSTRACT

Brain, the most powerful object in the universe, consumes only a few watts of energy. To replicate it, a nuclear power plant will be necessary, and this powerhouse is the sole controller of the human body. Normally, the brain is divided into two parts, with the left and right hemispheres working independently. The right half of the brain tends to cause mental tension and anxiety, exacerbating the present physiological condition like the current COVID-19 outbreak. A survey was done in the Durg district of Chhattisgarh, which is one of the hardest hit epicenters of the COVID-19 second wave in India. According to this survey, the majority of women of all ages are right brained, meaning their right hemisphere predominates over their left. They are more likely to suffer from mental illnesses than men because they are more inventive and creative thinkers. To avoid this circumstance, stress-relieving activities have been developed.

There are lots of question marks in everyone's mind that what will happen after the end of this worldwide pandemic relating to the way we live, work, communicate, celebrate, educate and many more. Although due to the virus pandemic, educational institutions have suspended campus teaching classes to restrain the spread of the coronavirus. Education institutions have shifted to online-mode of lecture delivery to safeguard the endurance of the teaching-learning course. This paper discusses the present state of digital infrastructure used by faculty of primary as well as secondary education sector in India through a questionnaire that was specifically designed to meet the requirements. The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of teachers regarding online teaching whether they are comfortable and confident while delivering online content to students during this tough time of pandemic? Online teaching is not new in India, but many teachers are experiencing this first time due to emergency and sudden closure of institutions of higher education due to COVID 19. Teachers and students all are engaged in online teaching/learning and combat with several challenges i.e. lack of resources, expertise, anxiety, etc. This study is an attempt to determine the problems and issues pertained to teachers during online teaching. Efforts have been also made to find out teachers’ perceptions about students' learning outcomes. This study explored advantages/disadvantages as well as barriers of online instructions as perceived by teachers of various colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, Punjab, India. There is the significant importance of the type of online teaching experiences i.e. faculty members who were having positive online teaching experiences significantly differ from their colleagues who experienced the negative or no online teaching experiences. Results obtained from this study indicate those faculty members who were trained and having sufficient exposure towards the technology are more comfortable as well as successful while implementing online teaching, therefore, it is strongly recommended that sufficient training must be provided to the teaching fraternity. ABSTRACT

Due to the strict enforcement of lockdown, the air quality index improved drastically in the cities across the globe within a few days of lockdown globally. The present study was conducted in Jaipur city to evaluate the effect of lockdown phases on the concentrations of PM10, PM1 # NO2, SO2, CO and O3. Among the selected pollutants PM1 (-61.15%) and PM10 (-40.50%) witnessed the maximum reduction in the lockdown phase 1. Among others, gaseous pollutants also showed a declining trend, as N02(-69.61 %) witnessed maximum reduction followed by CO (-25%) and SO2(-13.74%). In contrast to this, the O3(+24.26%) showed the opposite trend. The decreasing trend of pollutant concentrations continued upto the 2nd phase of lockdown, after which conditional relaxations in restrictions led to an increase in pollutants. In comparison to last year (that is 2019) during the same period, the concentration of atmospheric pollutants in 2020 was found to be very low. Ultrafine particulate matter showed a decreasing trend throughout the study whereas coarse mode particles shows a decreasing trend till the 3rd phase of lockdown and increased later on. Whereas, most of the gaseous pollutants show a decreasing trend in almost all phases except O,showing a reverse trend. © 2022 Scientific Publishers. All rights reserved.

The most recently discovered coronavirus (COVID-19), generates a contagious illness. The COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in a new war for a safe and fearless living in human history.Although millions of people are recovered from COVID-19 most of the recovered patients had no idea that after recovery they also needed good lifestyle modification. On the other side, many are not following the proper diet plan, sleep pattern, physical and mental exercise, etc. We all know how dangerous and infectious coronavirus is and its infection breaks our immunity system, so for fighting coronavirus infection and reducing complications for all COVID-19 survivors, good life modification knowledge plays a very important role. Out of 60 COVID-19 survivors, revealed that 24(40%) had poor, 27(45%)had an average, and 9(15%) had good knowledge about lifestyle modification.but after implementing the planned teaching program the post-test results were 0(0%) had poor, 16(26.66%) had an average, and 44(73.33%) had good knowledge about lifestyle modification.The entire pre-test mean of COVID-19 survivors was11.15while the post-test mean was 18.28.The study used a quantitative design with a one-group pre-test and post-test adopting pre-experimental and purposive sampling techniques.The effectiveness of a planned teaching programknowledge questionnaire was tested usingby self-structured questionnaire.According to the conclusions of the study, COVID-19 survivors lack adequate knowledge.The findings showedthat theplanned teaching program was very effective in increasing the knowledge level of COVID-19survivors. This study helps COVID-19 survivors to adopt good lifestyle changes and increases their level of knowledge regarding the benefits of choosing good lifestyle changes after recovering from this deadly coronavirus.
